Connect your own domain

Your funnel is live on a WonFlo address from the moment you sign up. Connecting your own domain puts it on your brand instead — one DNS record, then a short wait.

Last updated August 30, 2026

Every account gets a working funnel address the day it is created: go.wonflo.com/your-slug. That link is real, it is live, and you can run ads to it today. Connecting your own domain is an upgrade, not a requirement — it puts the same funnel on an address that carries your company's name.

1. Pick the hostname you want to use

Most roofers use a subdomain of the domain they already own — something like quote.yourcompany.com or estimate.yourcompany.com. A subdomain is the safe choice: your existing website stays exactly where it is, and the funnel gets its own address alongside it.

Do not point your root domain (yourcompany.com with nothing in front of it) at the funnel unless you genuinely want the funnel to be your website. If your main site lives there, that record is already in use.

2. Add the domain in your dashboard

In app.wonflo.com, add the hostname you chose. The dashboard immediately shows you the DNS record to create, in three parts:

Field
What goes in it
Type
CNAME
Host
The subdomain part — copy exactly what the dashboard shows
Value
The WonFlo target — copy exactly what the dashboard shows
TTL
Auto, or 3600 if your provider wants a number

Copy and paste both values. Do not retype them, and do not add a trailing dot unless your provider adds one for you. A single wrong character is the most common reason a domain never goes live.

3. Add the record at your DNS provider

The record goes in wherever your domain's DNS is managed — GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Squarespace, Bluehost, Wix, or whoever your web person set you up with. The dashboard includes step-by-step directions for the common providers, because every one of them hides the DNS screen somewhere different.

If you do not know who manages your DNS, the person or agency who built your website does. Forward them the three values above and ask for a CNAME record — it is a two-minute job for anyone who has seen the screen before.

One record, not two
Add one CNAME for that hostname and nothing else. If an A record or another CNAME already exists for the same host, delete it first — two records fighting over one name is the second most common reason a domain never activates.

4. Watch the status

Once the record is in, the dashboard tracks the connection for you and moves through these states:

Status
What it means
Waiting for DNS
We cannot see your record yet. Usually 5–30 minutes.
Verifying
Your record was found. The SSL certificate is being issued.
Finalizing
Certificate issued. Activation is finishing up.
Live
Done. Your funnel is serving from your domain.
Needs attention
Something is off with the record. Re-check the Host and Value.

Propagation: give it time

DNS changes are not instant. The usual wait is five to thirty minutes, and it is normal for it to take a few hours — occasionally longer if your provider uses a long TTL. Nothing is broken during that window; the record simply has not reached everywhere yet.

The unhelpful move is to delete the record and add it again because it "isn't working." That resets the clock. Add it once, get the values right, and leave it alone for an hour before you start troubleshooting.

Your go.wonflo.com link never stops working

This is the part worth knowing before you touch anything: connecting a custom domain does not retire your go.wonflo.com/your-slug address. Your custom domain is a front door onto the same funnel — the original link keeps serving the same page.

So ads already pointed at the WonFlo link keep running. Yard signs, truck wraps, QR codes and business cards printed with it keep working. You can move your ads to the new domain whenever you are ready, at your own pace, and nothing breaks in the meantime.

One thing that is not an address: yourcompany.wonflo.com. WonFlo does not hand out subdomains of its own domain — it is either the go.wonflo.com/your-slug path or a domain you own.

If it says "Needs attention"

  1. Compare the record character by character against what the dashboard shows. Watch for an accidentally appended domain name — some providers add .yourcompany.com to whatever you type in the Host field, which turns the right answer into the wrong one.
  2. Check for a conflicting record on the same hostname — an old A record or a parked-page CNAME left over from a previous setup.
  3. Confirm you edited the right domain if you own several. It happens more than you would think.
  4. Still stuck? Email us the hostname you are trying to connect and a screenshot of your DNS screen. We can usually spot it in one look.

Still stuck?

A real person reads every one of these, and it is usually faster than you would expect. Tell us your business name and what you were trying to do.
